Overwhelmed; it’s incredible in Phnom Penh
Today was incredible.
Went to the hospital where I’ll be working – it’s kind of far out of town, but very well equipped. I’m excited and nervous! Dr. Sarom is a kind and welcoming fellow, so I’m eager to be in the OR with him.
Met Samaly Mam, ex child-prostitute, rescuer of thousands of children from brothels. Had lunch at her house, as she was celebrating a big donation from a group of Aus/US/Cdns who did a big fund-raising bike adventure.
Saw the Killing Fields and Tuol Seong (Section-21) Prison
Stumbled across Cambodian improv dance by the river and a beautifully lit Royal Palace; no white people in sight, but it was a pure gem to see.
Got some grub at FCC – Foreign Correspondent’s Club. It was okay, but I prefer my Khmer food rather than foreign grub. When in Rome, right?
Many pictures to upload, but haven’t found a card reader in a ‘net cafe yet.
And I’m running low on internet time!
